and i agree with what Aidrian said about the blue laser that was at the ceiling running the entire length of the venue… i swear to god that was solid matter and not energy. I too think that I never saw anything like it again.

1:00:38 – 1:05:55 is not Spooky land of oz. Its Dina Carrol “Aint No Man” (Brothers In Rhythm remix). Tin Tin finished side A of the mixtape i previously mentioned with it as well.

shannon, a few years ago i digitized an amzing Tin Tin mix tape. It’s unbelievable and i still listen to it regularly to this very day. Its from around this time because it has Rising High’s “fever called love”, Whoosh “sometimes”, that Mukkaa track perfectly mixed into Leftfield’s “song of life”, the unknown track thats after “age of love” on this tape, plus Brothers In Rhythm remixes of Inner city & Dina Carroll….and he uses the Pamela Fernandez Accapella to transition too. However my tape has no fade outs or screw ups and was probably recorded at his flat LOL.

The tape was given to me by Alby M, aka DJ Alb-E (RIP) way way back then.

Wow! Thanks for the memories. It’s amazing how you can listen to it now and remember all the tracks and their sequences. It was a great time and the music still has its affect today. Thank you for putting this out there.

btw, the Blue “Soundstage Pass” ticket (posted above) could possibly be the first printed rave use of “Right Of Admittance Reserved” (or R.O.A.R)!

@Walls – the reason it was called “Blue” (and I hope I get this right, Mark or someone else can correct me) is that it was the first in a series of themed events, not tied to a date, but rather to a concept. From the name of the production company (Primary) to that company’s logo (square, triangle, circle) to the naming of the events – blue being a primary color. (Please don’t ask me why “Yellow” came next, though I do know there was an aversion to calling a party “Green” at the time – “in it for the scene, not for the green.”)

Maybe a member of the “Blue Crew” can fill this out even more.

so the fade out at 7:14 is the end of bob bentle and beginning of tin tin’s set? this is confusing because at 1:05:30 we hear frankie announce the end of tin tin’s set and the beginning of bob bentley. it’s like a mobius!

For the record – we were filming a tintin music video, you may remember some cameras on train tracks.

I really like your deconstruction of the night. The recollection of the facts from the scene, intrepting the sets is just a nice touch to just hearing the music again from a party that was a pretty damned important experiential event.

I remember Dave telling me that he told the Shriners he was booking the venue for a music video. I remember how destroyed the floor was after the event….maybe that part is a metaphor for the shadier side of nyc coming to new england.

I do remember thinking how clever the scene was at the time. Everything was art: the music, the kids tweaking clothes, the laser, the HUGE bass bins.

@Whoa – No idea if Tin Tin is still spinning. I don’t recall seeing him on a flier after Independance.

Thanks for posting this. I remember us listening to this in your room or on a road trip. Question: Do you or maybe any of those in the know, know the reason for not having this a Valentine Party and calling it Blue instead of RED being a day before the big Love day?????

@HAZMAT Thanks for the lineup. I’ve had this tape since just after the party so I don’t think it was edited. It’s just that I’ve got tapes from other parties where one side is from one time in the night and the other side is from another time in the night. So maybe the three tracks at the beginning are the end of Colin Dale’s set and Tin Tin fades out Age of Love on him.

Hard to believe it’s been 16yrs, how many rave empires have risen and fallen since then?
Who’d you get this tape from? It’s entirely possible that someone along the way edited the tape to make it flow. Otherwise, as far as I can recall,the lineup went Overload->AdamX->Lenny Dee->Colin Dale->TinTin->Bob Bently->OnE
